Mobile Websites Operation for Home Page

Today we are going to describe how to operate the home page.

For a small-mid merchant, the elements in the home page include logo, shopping cart, searching, promotional pictures, recommended products, banner, category, and login info. All of pictures in the home page are very easy to draw customers’ attention so that they are very vital for merchants. Obviously that should be maintained frequently.

Regarding the pictures in the home page, the click rate will decrease rapidly in the first two weeks. That’s because the users won’t find anything new from these pictures due to limited dimension. The chart below reveals the decreasing rate in eight weeks:

According to that, in Kancart’s mobile web template six pictures will be listed in the home page. In addition, the merchant has to change home page pictures frequently. For Kancart’ clients, these pictures on their websites are set to update automatically. The pictures will be displayed at the home page according to the time you set in advance. The aim is to keep the click rate in high level.

Besides the click rate issue, the merchants should pay attention to other factors as well. Below is an example from our clients to show the importance of home page pictures. Hellocosplay is one clothing sales merchants. But when we visited their mobile website, we found that the home page pictures never changed for a long period. The result of that was because the category ‘delivery rate’ has been set as one item of favourite products and these promotional pictures was sorted by popularity. Obviously this picture was always displayed at home page without changes because every sold product is accomplished with delivery fee.

Unfortunately the merchant failed to find this issue. When they sought help from Kancart, we found this problem and removed ‘delivery rate’ item from home page pictures list in the backend system. As a result, ‘delivery’ item would never appear on the promotional pictures list. This case explains the importance of operation as well. If the merchant never do anything after mobile websites completion, they still will meet some troubles. Their mobile sales channels should be taken care from day to day.
